Why learn with us

At 414 Kiting we offer kitesurfing lessons for all levels, and most ages (we recommend that children be at least 35kg). We offer both group and private lessons with our experienced team of IKO-qualified instructors, who between them are able to run lessons in quite a few languages (English, German, & French are the main group-languages, but also covered are Hungarian, Polish, Danish, Italian, and Spanish).

  • Kitesurfing lessons for all levels
  • Safe and spacious learning environment
  • New equipment
  • No kite-sharing once you’ve learned the basic controls
  • An awesome team of multi-lingual, highly qualified (and all IKO licensed), experienced instructors
  • Flexible course dates
  • Boat support
  • IKO certification at the end of your course
  • No wind? Then you don’t pay – we think that’s fair!

Lessons every day of the summer

  • Choose from group lessonsprivate lessons, coaching, kite foil, and wing foil. Our kitesurfing lessons are available for all levels from complete beginner through to advanced.
  • We don’t restrict you to set course dates or days, so whether it’s a one-day taster or kitesurfing every day of your holiday, we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Small groups

  • Our group kitesurfing lessons & coaching sessions have a maximum of 3 students and we give each student their own kite as soon as they are able to independently control and re-launch the kite. For kitefoil/wingfoil lessons the maximum group size is 2 people. Many schools make up to 4 students share one kite, which hugely limits progress and means you spend more time watching others have fun than actually learning yourself! With our boat-teaching method, we can safely give each student a kite and provide quality instruction, maximising your learning time.

Boat support

  • At most kitesurf spots, students spend up to 90% of their time with the kite in the air walking up the beach to regain ground they have lost against the wind (as a beginner it is challenging to stay upwind!). Learning from a boat eliminates this tiring stage and means that you spend more time actually kiting rather than walking. Students who have tried both methods can confirm that learning from a boat is up to 3-times faster and significantly safer
  • Your instructor will never be far from you when you learn on the lake. Our boats are very quick between students to give you tips/help if needed. When you learn from a beach, your instructor is often very far away and unable to get to you to assist you when you need help.

Safety comes first

  • Our incredible and multi-lingual team of instructors are all IKO certified, and all our water-based teaching is done from boats in the safety of the middle of the lake. Being away from the land is far safer and more fun way to learn to kitesurf.
  • Our courses are run with the only the latest F-One equipment, and are designed to make learning kitesurfing as safe and fun as possible – no corners cut.

About us

For summer kitesurfing in Europe, the Swiss and Italian lakes are hard to beat. In Switzerland you have Lake Geneva and Lake Neuchatel. In Italy there’s Lake Como and Lake Garda. All are surrounded by the towering peaks of the southern Alps.

Lake Como is just 90 minutes from Milan, 3hrs from Zurich, and 4hrs from Geneva. The 162 square kilometre fresh-water lake provides unbeatable learning conditions, and also a perfect playground for more advanced kiters. Unlike the better-known lake Garda, Como is rarely too busy and in summer months over 90% of days bring kiteable wind.

414 Kiting is open between May & September when the thermal winds blow most reliably, but you can contact us at any time if you have questions or would like to book lessons.

If you’re an advanced kiter just looking for information on the Lake Como winds or the best spots to launch from the land, then you might also want to check out our Kitespot Guides!
